Up to about 10% of the skip bin volume can consist of heavier materials such as bricks, concrete, tiles, pavers, soil, or rubble. If the load consists mainly of heavy material rather than renovation waste, it belongs in a different waste category.

What You Can Put in a Builders Waste Skip Bin

Builders' waste skip bins are for mixed renovation and building rubbish.

Allowed materials generally include plaster, timber offcuts, old cabinets, shelves, carpet, underlay, packaging, broken fittings, general strip-out waste, dry renovation debris, and similar mixed building rubbish. A small amount of heavy recyclable material, such as tiles, concrete, bricks, pavers or soil, can also be included, as long as it stays within the allowed limit for this waste category.

This page is best for mixed renovation waste, not full heavy loads. If the heavy material starts becoming a major part of the load, the job usually belongs in one of the dedicated heavy-waste categories instead.

What Cannot Go In This Waste Category?

Builders' waste skip bins are not for full loads of heavy recyclable materials or prohibited waste.

Do not book builders waste if the load is mainly concrete, soil, bricks, pavers, rocks or rubble. Those materials need the correct heavy waste category.

Do not put asbestos, chemicals, paint, oils, liquids, gas bottles, batteries, tyres, mattresses, hazardous waste, fire extinguishers, food waste, or any prohibited waste into the skip bin.
